Empowering Change, One Step at a Time

With over 20 years of dedicated experience as a psychologist, I specialize in helping adults navigate life’s most challenging moments. Whether you’re facing anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, or navigating life transitions, I am here to guide you toward healing and empowerment. I also provide tailored psychological assessments for return-to-work and medical purposes, ensuring you receive the comprehensive support you need.

As a CBT-trained and EMDR-certified therapist, I use an eclectic, action-oriented approach that focuses on solutions and results. My commitment is to create a safe, warm, and nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, supported, and empowered to take meaningful steps toward change.

I bring more than just professional expertise to our sessions—I bring personal understanding. Having overcome my own experiences with depression, anxiety, stress, and trauma, I know firsthand the strength it takes to rebuild. I draw on these experiences, coupled with evidence-based strategies, to inspire hope and resilience in you.

Collaboration is key to comprehensive care. I work closely with a network of mental health specialists, including doctors, psychiatrists, and psychiatric nurses, to ensure a holistic approach that addresses every aspect of your well-being.

As the Co-Chair of the Canadian Psychological Association's Human Rights and Equity Committee, a former Council Member of the College of Alberta Psychologists, and the Chair-Elect of the CPA's Counselling Section, I am deeply committed to advancing social justice, equity, and ethics within the field of psychology. My passion lies in shaping the profession to be more inclusive, ethical, and forward-thinking for the benefit of all.

I am also honored that my PhD poster presentation has been selected as a finalist for the Ontario Psychological Association’s Poster Presentation Competition and the prestigious Excellence in Poster Presentation Award. These achievements reflect my unwavering dedication to advancing the profession through innovation, advocacy, and the pursuit of excellence.

Beyond therapy, I am a passionate trainer, facilitator, and public speaker, recognized for my contributions to the field. As the proud recipient of the PAA Contributor of the Year Award (2020) and the CPA John C. Service Award (2021), I strive to inspire change and foster meaningful conversations around mental health.

Let’s work together to help you reconnect with your inner strength, build resilience, and create a life that feels meaningful and fulfilling. Change is possible, and it starts with taking the first step.

Benazir Sindhi

Registered Provisional Psychologist (P6097). B.A., MC.

Hello! My name is Benazir and I work with children (ages 5+), adolescents, young adults, parents, and schools. I specialize in helping young people affected by trauma, grief and loss, separation/ divorce, complex behavioural concerns, emotional dysregulation, racism and discrimination, ADHD, depression, and anxiety.

In counselling, I practice from a systemic and trauma-informed lens which means that I do not only focus on what a person’s behaviour is, but on the why. This means I try and understand what are the reasons for the behaviour, what relief does the behaviour provide currently, and what is happening or has happened in the child’s world? Depending on the individual needs of the client, I utilize play and art interventions along with narrative approaches. I am trained and experienced in suicide intervention and prevention, and non-suicidal self-injury. In addition to my training as a therapist, I have close to eleven years of mental health experience. I specialize in complex behaviours, Trauma Informed Care, anti-racism training and programming, mental health promotion workshops, and parent workshops. I offer behaviour consultations and various mental health workshops to schools as well.

My lived experience has allowed me to connect with my clients in some of the most beautiful and unique ways. Whether or not this is the first time you are seeking a therapist, I commend you on the courage and patience that it takes. I invite you to a free consultation so we can meet, you can ask me any questions you may have, and see if this feels like a fit for you.
